Vera Zoroska - Promotional Campaign “Science for the Future”

As part of the Science for the Future promotional campaign, implemented with the support of the Johnson Matthey Community Impact Programme, we are pleased to share the inspiring story of Vera Zoroska, teacher-advisor at “Hristo Uzunov” Primary School in Ohrid.

As an experienced educator, Vera believes that curiosity is the strongest driver of learning and that science enables young people to understand the world, think critically, and create a better future.

Her message to students is simple, yet powerful: “Science is the key, the future is the door, and knowledge is the force that opens it!”

In her personal story, Vera shares how childhood curiosity led her toward teaching and a life dedicated to education: “Curiosity was my first teacher. Even as a child, I did not accept boundaries - every plant, animal, natural phenomenon, or process was a challenge for me to discover and understand. That tireless fascination introduced me to the world of natural sciences, while mathematics helped me connect those discoveries into one harmonious whole.

My desire for success was not only personal - I wanted my parents to be proud of me, so with persistence and passion I continued learning and discovering new horizons. I felt the teaching profession as my true calling from the moment I became aware of my own path.

Today, as a teacher, I live that vision every day. The energy of my students, their openness, and their eyes full of curiosity remind me that science is not only a collection of facts, but a journey filled with joy, discovery, and opportunity. My greatest motivation is to inspire students to see science as a tool for creating a better world. I believe that every student carries a spark that can grow into a flame of knowledge and success.”

Vera Zoroska is part of a community of dedicated educators who, through the Science for the Future campaign, inspire young people to recognize science as a pathway to knowledge, innovation, and a better future.
