In the world of science, every great discovery begins with a simple question: “Why?” Today, as part of our “Science and Me” campaign, we are honored to share the inspiring story of Tome Kitanovski – a biology teacher at “Goce Delchev” Elementary School in Vasilevo and a PhD candidate at the School of Doctoral Studies at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. His journey is proof that curiosity, dedication, and a constant thirst for knowledge are the key drivers of success in science.

Tome believes that science is not just a school subject, but a way of thinking and a powerful tool for creating a better world. Here is his motivational message for all elementary students:

“Every great discovery begins with a simple ‘Why?’. Be brave to ask questions, curious to explore, and persistent to create – science is the path to the future that you will shape yourself.”

Tome shares his story:

“My name is Tome Kitanovski, and my desire to enter the world of science began at a very young age, when as a child with a naturally curious and investigative spirit, I sought answers to questions about the world that is not always visible to the naked eye – the world of microorganisms, insects, animals, and nature that surrounded me.

My first steps into the world that studies the world – for me, that is science – were shaped during my high school education in the medical track, where I learned the basics of how the human body works. I continued along the path and became a certified biology teacher – a profession through which I could and wanted to inspire young minds to love science, just as I fell in love with it myself.

But I did not stop there! Understanding how important it is to connect science with everyday life and technology, I pursued a master’s degree in Design and Management of Technological Processes, and today I am a PhD candidate in Technology at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy in Skopje.

Science is a world of exploration, critical thinking, and innovation. In that world, I learned that with effort, curiosity, and persistence – anything is possible. I encourage you, dear students, to follow your love for science. It is not just a school subject – it is a powerful tool that can change the world. The world needs young scientists like you who will set new standards!”
