Zorka Hristova Trajkova – Promotional Campaign “SCIENCE FOR THE FUTURE” Science – A Window to a World Others Cannot See!
As part of the “Science and Me” campaign, implemented under the Johnson Matthey Community Impact Program, we are thrilled to share the story of Zorka Hristova Trajkova – mentor teacher and chemistry professor at “Krste Petkov Misirkov” Elementary School in Radovish. Her dedication, love for science, and the inspiring way she brings chemistry to her students show that science is more than formulas and laboratories – it is a way of seeing the world.
Here is her message for all elementary students:
“You will see the world in a way others cannot. While someone sees only water, you will see H₂O – a balance of energy and life. While others admire the colors of the sky, you will know that they are the result of an endless interplay of molecules and light.”
Zorka shares her impressions from her visit to the Johnson Matthey factory:
“As a chemistry teacher, visiting the Johnson Matthey factory was an extremely meaningful and inspiring experience. This globally recognized company, known for its innovations in chemical engineering and advanced materials, makes a strong impression with its high technological standards, systematic organization, and sustainable approach to production.
From a professional perspective, I was particularly fascinated by how the principles of green chemistry are integrated into every part of the production process. The practical application of catalysts with precise molecular structures, developed to control emissions and improve energy efficiency, is an excellent example of how chemistry directly contributes to global environmental goals.
The high level of automation and process control deserves special attention, ensuring consistent quality while minimizing risks associated with handling hazardous substances. Safety protocols and continuous monitoring of conditions in the production halls are examples of best industry practices.
As an educator, I see this visit as a bridge between the theoretical knowledge we teach students and its application in real industrial environments. It gave me ideas on how to bring chemistry closer to students through examples with real added value – scientifically, technologically, and socially.
Johnson Matthey not only produces advanced chemical products but also sets standards for an ethical and responsible industry. The visit was more than a professional obligation – it was an inspiration to deepen teaching and motivate young generations to discover the practical power of chemistry.”
Let us continue to explore science together – to see it in a drop of water, in the light of the sky, in the molecules of everyday life. Because science is everywhere – we just need to notice it.
The Power of Knowledge
In a world full of opportunities, the gift of knowledge is the most valuable wealth we can give to the next generation. By joining this initiative, you become a beacon of inspiration for those who will carry the torch of science forward.
Let’s work together to inspire, motivate, and educate. Let’s ignite a passion for science in the hearts of students. Your words could be the spark that lights the fire of curiosity and excellence.
Join us in shaping the future of science and the young scientists who will define it. Together, we can make a difference. Share your own motivational quote or a short success story highlighting your journey as a scientist and submit it through the special form found at the following LINK.
