Scholar Success Story: Lukijan Lazarov - Curiosity, Knowledge, and Excellence Across Disciplines

Through the Support Fund for Talented High School Students “Talents Today -Leaders Tomorrow,” Macedonia2025 supports young individuals who demonstrate exceptional academic potential, dedication, and a commitment to continuous growth.

One of these inspiring scholars is Lukijan Lazarov, a second-year student at SUGS “Rade Jovchevski-Korchagin” in Skopje. With a strong interest in chemistry, physics, geography, and languages, Lukijan has distinguished himself as one of the most accomplished students of his generation. His achievements reflect not only academic excellence but also remarkable determination, discipline, and a genuine passion for learning.

Driven by a desire to constantly challenge himself and expand his knowledge, Lukijan actively participates in competitions, educational activities, and school initiatives, always striving to achieve the highest possible standards.

A Year of Outstanding Academic Achievement

The 2025/2026 academic year was one of the most demanding and successful periods of Lukijan’s educational journey. Motivated by the opportunity to be part of the “Talents Today – Leaders Tomorrow” program, he set a personal goal to fully justify the trust placed in him and demonstrate his commitment through hard work and excellence. Despite balancing multiple demanding competitions at the same time, he maintained a perfect 5.00 GPA throughout the year.

During the year, Lukijan competed in four different academic disciplines: German language, geography, chemistry, and physics - achieving exceptional results at regional and national levels.

His achievements include:

• Third Place (First Prize Category) – National Geography Competition

•  First Prize – National Chemistry Competition

•  First Prize – Regional German Language Competition

•  Second Prize – National German Language Competition

•  Third Prize – Regional Physics Competition

• Honorable Mention – National Physics Competition

• Successful Participation – Selection Competition for the Balkan Physics Olympiad (BPO)

These accomplishments demonstrate not only his broad academic interests, but also his ability to excel across multiple scientific and linguistic disciplines simultaneously.

Passion for Science and Discovery

Science has always been one of Lukijan’s greatest interests. His success in chemistry, physics, and geography reflects a natural curiosity about the world and a desire to understand how complex systems function.

Particularly impressive was his achievement in chemistry, where he won First Prize at the National Chemistry Competition, placing him among the top young chemistry students in the country. At the same time, he successfully competed in physics and qualified for the selection competition for the Balkan Physics Olympiad, further demonstrating his analytical thinking and scientific potential.

His achievements in geography also highlight his broad academic profile. By securing Third Place at the National Geography Competition, Lukijan demonstrated strong interdisciplinary knowledge and an understanding of both natural and social sciences.

All these factors enabled me to give my very best this year and come closer than ever to achieving my ambitions.”
