Great Success of the First Regional Science Fair in Veles!

We are pleased to inform you that on April 16, 2024, in Veles, the first Regional Science Fair was successfully held as part of the Johnson Matthey Community Impact Program “Science and Me.”

The event brought together more than 40 talented 6th-grade students, mentored by their science teachers from five schools in Veles, Obleshevo, Shtip, Lozovo, and Batinci. The participating schools at the first Regional Science Fair were:

“Vancho Prke” Elementary School, Shtip – Mentor: Martina Trajkovska Bojkov
“Alija Avdović” Elementary School, Batinci – Mentor: Dzhenan Rizvanović
“Kliment Ohridski” Elementary School, Obleshevo – Mentor: Natalija Georgievska
“Metodi Mitevski-Brico” Elementary School, Lozovo – Mentor: Valentina Viteva
Host school “Blazhe Koneski” Elementary School, Veles – Mentor: Ruzhica Petrushevska-Nikolovska

Nikica Mojsoska Blazevski, on behalf of Macedonia2025, stated:

“None of this would have been possible without the Macedonia2025 initiative ‘Science and Me,’ a project supported by the Johnson Matthey Community Impact Program. Within the project, we trained 20 motivated young science teachers. The program not only equipped teachers with the necessary skills and techniques for effective science teaching, but we will also organize four such regional science fairs, where you—the students—can experience science in action.”

The fair attracted significant attention, with an additional 150 visiting students from Veles and the surrounding areas.

We extend our sincere gratitude to “Blazhe Koneski” Elementary School – Veles for their incredible support and hospitality as the host school. Special thanks also go to the volunteers—employees Ana, Monika, Zorica, and Aleksandar from Johnson Matthey—whose engagement reflects the company’s policy of encouraging employee participation in volunteer activities and increasing their involvement in supporting scientific and educational initiatives. Their dedication to science and education greatly enriched this event.
