About “Atanas Bliznakoff Foundation” in the United States.

The Atanas Bliznakoff Scholarship Program supports talented and committed students at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje by providing financial assistance and opportunities for personal, academic, and professional development.

The program is designed to help students focus on their studies, develop new skills, build meaningful professional connections, and prepare for their future careers. In addition to financial support, scholars can participate in mentorship activities, training sessions, workshops, networking events, and community initiatives organized by Macedonia2025.

Since 2023, Macedonia2025 has partnered with the Atanas Bliznakoff Foundation in the United States to administer the scholarship program, manage the annual application process, and ensure continued support for current scholars. The program builds on the philanthropic legacy of Atanas and Slavka Bliznakoff, who established the Foundation in 1977 to support student excellence in Macedonia.

The Legacy of Atanas Bliznakoff

In 1976, he settled in Skopje, where he laid the groundwork for the “Atanas Bliznakoff Foundation.” On April 18, 1977, together with Slavka Bliznakoff, he formally established the Foundation.

A visionary philanthropist, Bliznakoff believed that education could open doors and transform lives. His dedication to supporting talented students from Macedonia, regardless of their financial circumstances, lives on through every scholarship awarded, every mentorship formed, and every opportunity created in his name.
