Ivo Tojtov – A Scholar Who Connects Science, Art, and Entrepreneurship
Ivo Tojtov, a fourth-year student at Orce Nikolov High School in Skopje, was a scholarship recipient under the “Talents Today – Leaders Tomorrow” Fund for Talented High School Students, Class of 2024/2025.
He is a true example of a young person whose curiosity, enthusiasm, diligence, and perseverance leave a strong impression and meaningful achievements. For his academic accomplishments, engagement, and outstanding activity, Ivo was selected as the top student of his generation at his school.
Science That Solves Real Problems: As part of the “LuftON” team at Climathon Skopje 2024, Ivo worked on an innovative solution to air pollution – whiteboard marker ink made from soot (powdered residue from chimneys). Thanks to his chemistry knowledge, the team successfully developed a prototype. Their next goal is to independently produce an eco-friendly marker casing using recycled plastic and a 3D printer.
Competitions and Awards: Ivo has received numerous recognitions:
2nd place at the municipal and 3rd place at the regional chemistry competition
3rd place at the regional and 1st place at the national German language competition
Certificate of participation at the national philosophy competition
Educator and Content Creator: Ivo shares his love of chemistry through his Instagram profile @totohemija, where he posts the series “Chemistry Is All Around Us.” At the same time, he gives private chemistry lessons to other students, encouraging them to develop a passion for the subject.
Musical Expression: Ivo actively participated in a number of events celebrating the 70th anniversary of his school, Orce Nikolov High School. He stood out with a solo saxophone performance of “My Way,” performed with the school orchestra, and participated in a musical and a theater performance.
Mentorship That Makes a Difference: Through the program, Ivo received guidance from his mentor, particularly regarding his future academic path. After constructive discussions, he decided to continue his studies at the Institute of Chemistry at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics – Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, specializing in Applied Chemistry – Analytical Biochemistry.
Personal Growth: Passing his driving test was another step toward independence and readiness for university challenges.
Ivo Tojtov represents exactly the type of young leader we aim to support through the “Talents Today – Leaders Tomorrow” program. His story is an inspiration for many other high school students who dream big and are ready to invest in themselves.
We wish him great success in continuing his education and eagerly look forward to his future achievements!
