MACEDONIA AMONG THE COUNTRIES WITH THE BIGGEST BRAIN DRAIN
Highly trained and qualified people are emigrating our country. According to the Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum, Macedonia is among the countries with the biggest brain drain. Unfortunately, neither the promise of European integration nor foreign investments have been able to shield the country from this ongoing trend.

MACEDONIA’S PARLIAMENT RATIFIES NATO MEMBERSHIP
Macedonian members of parliament on Tuesday unanimously ratified an agreement to make their country a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The Balkan country has moved a step closer to becoming the military alliance’s 30th member. Its membership had been blocked by neighboring Greece over a name dispute.

WOMEN IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
In Lithuania, Norway, Bulgaria, Latvia and Denmark, the majority of scientists and engineers are women. Of the roughly 15 million scientists and engineers in the EU, 59% are men and 41% are women. When it comes to Macedonia, the percentage of women vs. men in science and technology is around 45% and 55% respectively.

MACEDONIA WINS EU PRAISE FOR PIONEERING COAL-TO-SOLAR SHIFT
The European Union energy watchdog praised Macedonia on Wednesday (19 February) for a pioneering project among EU aspirants to transform an ageing coal mine into two solar power plants, in line with goals to cut pollution and tackle climate change.
