Kosta Barjaba, Senior Policy Adviser to the Minister of Health of the Republic of Albania, Member of Albania’s Academy of Sciences and Professor of Sociology and Public Policies at the European University of Tirana, and MK2025 Summit Speaker: Albania’s economic development and diaspora engagement
It is our pleasure to announce Profesor Kosta Barjaba as a speaker to the MK2025 Summit. Prof Barjaba is a Senior Policy Adviser to the Minister of Health of the Republic of Albania, and a Professor of Sociology and Public Policies at the European University of Tirana. He is also an Associate Member of the Academy of Sciences of Albania. Prof Barjaba will speak on Albania’s economic development and diaspora engagement. This will provide valuble insights for Macedonia’s development and its engagement with its own diaspora. Prof Barjaba has a wealth of academic and governmental experience with regards to development, diapsora and combatting poverty.
From 1999 to 2008, Prof Barjaba represented Albania on three committees in the Council of Europe: Migration, Social Cohesion and European Social Charter.
Prof Barjaba has held various governmental positions in Albania including Director of The Department of Migration (1997 to 2002), and as the Chief of Staff to the Minister of Labor (1998 to 2008).
Porf Barjaba is a distinguished author on the topics of poverty and development. His most recent books (in Albanian) are: Asymmetries of Development (2016), Migration of Poverty (2015), Refunding Welfare: Development a Poverty Challenger (2014), and Unemployment Pitfalls (2013).
Mr Barjana has a Poltical Science, Law degree and PhD in Sociology from the University of Tirana, and a Mid-Career Master in Public Administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
