John is an experienced investment banker, board director and investor with over 20 years of financial advisory, capital markets and investment experience in the markets of Western and Eastern Europe, Russia/CIS, USA, Japan, China, Indonesia and Australia.
In 2005, he founded Phalanx Capital to address client demand for world-class corporate finance, capital raising and asset management services in the emerging markets of South-Eastern Europe, executing deals with a total value of around €470m since then.
In Macedonia, John has led a number of landmark transactions including the country’s debut Eurobond issue on the international capital markets, and the sales of Investbanka to Steiermärkische Sparkasse and Pivara Skopje to Heineken and Coca-Cola respectively. Currently, he serves on the Boards of the Macedonian Garment Industry and Tikves Winery.
Prior to Phalanx Capital John was a Director of UBS Investment Bank in London, and previously at ABN AMRO Investment Bank, Coopers & Lybrand and NM Rothschild & Sons.
An Australian of Macedonian heritage, he holds a Bachelor of Banking & Finance from the University of Canberra and a Masters in Applied Finance from Macquarie University.
