Gaetano Massara is CEO GE Global Growth & Operations South East Europe since 2012. He spent the last 12 years of his career covering different roles in the region. In his current position he represents GE at the highest levels and is responsible for expanding the company across all GE businesses.
At the Macedonia Investment Summit Mr. Massara will present on the Technology and Innovation panel on the topic “Smart Cities, industrial internet and renewable energy.”
Before being appointed to this position, he was Marketing & Business Development Director for Italy and the Balkans, responsible for market assessment, projects identification and origination, supervision of projects execution, government affairs & policy advocacy.
Since his arrival at GE in 2007, Gaetano has developed a comprehensive strategy for GE in the region. Prior to joining GE, he was Associate Banker at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) Infrastructure division. From 2005 to 2007 he worked at the EBRD’s Belgrade office, where was responsible of investment projects in the Municipal and Environmental sector throughout the Western Balkans. From 2003 to 2005 he was based at the EBRD’s HQ in London, where developed and monitored investment projects in the Transportation sector. In the first half of 2003 he worked as an Assistant of the EBRD’s EC Director, where his responsibility was to screen projects for institutional, financial and economic adequacy.
From 1997 to 2002, he was University Assistant at the Chair of ‘Public Economics’ of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Rome and was a trainee in a firm of Chartered Accountants in Rome. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics & Business Administration from the University of Rome, and a Post-graduate degree in International Relations sponsored by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He attained a specialization in Macroeconomics at the Yale University, USA. He undertook part of his university studies also in France and Spain. Gaetano is a member of Cyprus’ President Advisory Council established to recommend measures to boost economic growth in Cyprus.
