Part of Macedonia2025 team visited Toronto last month for a two-week period, where they had the opportunity to meet a number of business professionals of Macedonian origin that reside in the Greater Toronto Area, thus sharing Macedonia2025 mission and vision. The purpose of the trip was also to reach out to the Macedonian diaspora, and inform them about our programs and events that we conduct throughout the year, thus initiating future cooperation.
Henceforth, on June 11th, our team representatives organized a wonderful Networking Reception, chaired by Mr. John I. Bitove Jr. – MK2025 Co-Founder and Board Member, which was held at the beautiful spaces of Sassafraz restaurant, successfully run by two Macedonians. This was one of those events where Macedonia2025 shared some of its successes, highlighting the importance of giving back to the country and keeping links with the motherland.
Apart from the networking reception, Vase Georgievska – Financial Manager at Macedonia2025 stated that during the visit in Toronto they met a number of Macedonian professionals, and heard about their successful stories.
“We were pleased to meet with our Board Members, Ambassadors Club members and Macedonia2025 supporters in Toronto. These individuals are very active in helping the economic and educational development of our country. Their support is crucial for Macedonia2025’s continuation and expansion plan, as the organization relies solely on donations for realization of our educational programs. We have also visited a number of companies, where we presented our programs and activities, as well as all the ways in which they can get involved in our organization, thus further expanding our network”. – commented Georgievska.
Our team members were also excited to visit the Schulich School of Business – a year-long partner of Macedonia2025. They audited a day of the “Certificate in Critical Communications Skills” course and had a very fruitful meeting with Esther Yu Wang – Associate Director and Teresa Farronato – Seminar Customer Service Coordinator. Possible ways for deepening collaboration and sending a larger number of participants in future editions of the Toronto Executive Study Tour were thereby discussed.
Besides visiting Schulich School of Business and numerous companies, our Education Programs Manager – Elena Zhurkova, said that they have also met Wendy Harris – CEO & President of CESO SACO and Gale Lee – Director of International Services at CESO SACO, elaborating on the activities related to the recently launched Bitove Family Entrepreneurship Program.
“What is more, we have visited representatives from several other educational institutions. We met Donna Heslin – Director Graduate Programs & External Relations at the Institute for Management & Innovation – University of Toronto and Natasha Walli – Program Manager at their campus in Mississauga. We also had the opportunity to audit one class during the day and we heard all about their undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as some shorter programs they offer to foreign students. We also had a very productive meeting with Donna Chow – Manager of the Corporate Education at Ryerson University, who thoroughly explained the big range of different short programs for professionals at the Chang School of Continuing Education.” – accentuated Zhurkova.
In addition, our newly established Charity Fund for talented students from vulnerable backgrounds was also presented, where people were invited to donate for the noble cause of supporting young Macedonian talents, melting our hearts with their appreciation, modesty and dignity.
Last but not least, we would like to thank everyone who took the time to join us and helped in strengthening the Macedonian – Canadian community!
