Thanks to the organization Macedonia 2025, I was given the opportunity to attend one-week training at Schulich Executive Education Centre (SEEC) plus one-week job shadowing in ECN capital and Element Fleet Corporation in Toronto, Canada. This unique experience provided me with a mix of academic and real-world business knowledge.
Schulich Executive Education Centre is consistently ranked among the world’s top schools in relation to international MBA and Executive Education programs, attended by 10.000 executives annually in a wide range of leadership and management topics. I followed a course for managers and executives in the corporate and public sector – Leadership Competences: What Senior managers need to know. The highest-performing workplaces are led by senior managers who set clear direction, establish challenging targets and motivate employees. I was able to acquire skills necessary to achieve successful strategic change, nurture innovation, solve problems, and mentor teams to enhance performance, develop business recommendations with financial backup and compete effectively in the global economy. The program content was:
- Strategic thinking & Creative Problem Solving
- Innovation & Change leadership
- Financial Leadership & Building Successful Business Cases
- Coaching & Mentoring Skills for Organizational Growth
- Creating High Performance Workplaces
- Effective Corporate Governance and Risk Management
- Competing Effectively in the Global Economy
This was a unique chance to meet and to discuss with excellent consultants, coachers, specialists, leaders and facilitators who work internationally with Fortune 500 companies, Megan Mitchell, Lee-Anne McAlear, George Klar, Stephen Friedman, Cy Charney and Kenneth Jull.
The great value of my training was achieved during the job shadowing process in two companies:
ECN Capital which is a major force in commercial finance, operating across North America in three verticals – Commercial & Vendor Finance, Rail Finance and Commercial Aviation Finance, with more than $7.5 billion in owned and managed assets and
Element Fleet Corporation which is an $18 billion leading global fleet management company with over 1 million vehicles under management, 2,800+ customers and 2,600+ employees.
I worked individually with more than 30 professionals in these companies: chief officers, vice presidents, directors, senior managers etc. I was allowed to observe and was directly involved in variety of processes: marketing, sales, risk management, data analytics and business intelligence, key accounting, customer service, human resources, finance, project management, strategic vendor partnership, general counsel and overall operations management.
ECN Capital continues the legacy of innovation, determination and service in support of its customers, developed by the industry leaders and funding partners who built Element Financial Corporation into North America’s largest independent equipment finance company.
Element Fleet Corporation provides a comprehensive range of fleet services that span the total fleet lifecycle, helping customers optimize their strategies at every stage – from acquisition and financing to program management and vehicle remarketing. These services, together with their exceptional tools, technologies and consulting, empower customers to realize extraordinary results.
The fulfilment of my visit in Canada was achieved as well as, by fellowship of my dear family in Toronto, friends and members of the Macedonia 2025 Association with whom I shared wonderful moments. Now I’m richer for friendships with diverse and talented people and I really hope that the insights I gained, will contribute to organization’s success and progress in my career.
I am most grateful to Mr. Jim Nikopoulos COO ECN Capital, Mary Barcellois VP HR EFC, Mr. Lou Naumovski, Family Ilija Crvenkovski, Jordanka Kacarska, Dijana Indovski, Aleksandar Orovcanec, Suncica and Nikolai Gagacev.
