By joining forces with Generalka Weekend and Sonceva Gora, we are supporting the green story, which is transforming into a movement that extends from local actions to a national strategy, and from symbolism to systemic change. On March 19th, within the framework of the Science and Me project, the Macedonia2025 team visited several primary schools in Skopje and the surrounding area to deliver Science Sets for teachers, provided as support for their participation in the upcoming regional science fairs.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Trimaks, who joined our initiative this year and contributed additional educational materials for the Science Sets. Their support helped us prepare richer and more useful resources for teachers and students.
The Science Sets are part of the Science and Me project, implemented by Macedonia2025 with the support of Johnson Matthey community impact program, which aims to strengthen science education through teacher training, mentorship, science fairs, and classroom support.

Во рамки на промотивната кампања “Наука за иднината„ Програма за влијание на заедницата, реализирана со поддршка на Џонсон Мети, ја споделуваме инспиративната приказна на Убавка Џинов, наставник по хемија и природни науки во ООУ „11 Октомври“, општина Центар – Скопје.
Преку својата порака, таа ги повикува учениците да ја откријат магијата на науката која секојдневно нè опкружува: “Без хемија нема живот! Хемијата е клучот на невидливиот свет – возбудлива наука која создава вистинска магија низ призмата на животот. Преку експерименти ни дава моќ да го погледнеме невидливото, да бидеме љубопитни и да креираме решенија за иднината.„
Во својата лична приказна, Убавка ја руши претставата дека хемијата е тешка и недостижна: “Кога ќе го слушнете зборот хемија, често помислувате на тешки формули, равенки и табели. Но јас сум тука за да ви дадам очи со кои ќе го гледате светот поинаку. Хемијата не е само во лабораторија – таа е во здивот што го земате сега, во бојата на вашите патики и во начинот на кој телото ја претвора храната во енергија.„
Како наставник, таа ја доживува хемијата како повик, а не само како професија – улога што обединува научник, ментор и “магионичар„. Нејзината мисија е јасна: да покаже дека со вистински пристап, науката може да биде разбирлива, логична и забавна за секого, и дека токму преку хемијата се раѓаат иновативни решенија за иднината.
Убавка Џинов е дел од заедницата на инспиративни наставници кои преку “Наука за иднината„ ја доближуваат науката до учениците и ја претвораат љубопитноста во знаење, а знаењето – во сила за промена.

Преку поставување прашања, решавање проблеми и истражување на законитостите во природата, учениците учат како да размислуваат критички и самоуверено.

As part of the Johnson Matthey “Science for the Future” campaign, we are proud to share the inspiring story of Dr. Elizabeta Atanaskova, Doctor of Pharmacy and researcher at the Institute of Research and Development at Alkaloid AD Skopje.
Who is she?
Elizabeta Atanaskova is a Doctor of Pharmacy working at Alkaloid AD’s Institute of Research and Development as part of the Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) team. Her role lies at the dynamic intersection of research and large-scale production, the place where scientific advancements are transformed into reliable, efficient, and high-quality pharmaceutical processes. Driven by a deep understanding of pharmaceutical sciences and strengthened through doctoral research in Process Analytical Technology, she brings both technical expertise and strategic vision to her work. Together with her team, she ensures that innovation extends beyond the laboratory and is successfully implemented in industrial manufacturing. Through technology transfer, process optimization, and the integration of advanced analytical and data-driven approaches, her work contributes to building smarter, more controlled, and more resilient products. In this role, science becomes impact, transforming knowledge into trust and research into tangible solutions.
Success story
Elizabeta was born in Veles, where she completed her primary and secondary education. Her passion for chemistry and science began to take shape in her early school years, when curiosity about experiments and a desire to understand how substances interact sparked a lasting interest in scientific discovery. Driven by her passion, she enrolled in the Secondary School of Pharmacy, deepening her interest in pharmaceutical sciences. Winning first place in the National Organic Chemistry Competition for Young Scientists of Macedonia further confirmed her path toward research and pharmacy.
She enrolled in 2012 at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Faculty of Pharmacy, where she graduated as a Master of Pharmacy in 2017. Recognized as one of the best students of her generation, she was awarded with scholarship from “Trajche Mukaetov” Foundation by Alkaloid AD. This acknowledgment not only honored her academic excellence but also opened the door to her future career. After graduation, she joined Alkaloid AD beginning a journey that would unite scientific knowledge with real-world industrial impact. Today, she is a Team Lead of a group of young researchers, inspiring innovation, fostering scientific curiosity, and shaping the next generation of pharmaceutical experts while contributing to the success of one of the region’s leading pharmaceutical companies. Supported by her company, she recently completed her doctoral studies in Process Analytical Technology, aligning with the latest scientific trends and introducing machine learning approaches to optimize and control pharmaceutical production processes in real time.
Her journey reflects the power of curiosity, enthusiasm, and continuous learning, proving that passion for science, when nurtured and supported, can grow into leadership that transforms science into meaningful impact.
From Curiosity to Scientific Leadership
“Science, for me, was never just a subject – it was a path that gradually unfolded from curiosity to research, from research to innovation, and eventually to leadership. It all started with small classroom experiment and a growing fascination with chemistry and science. Very early on, I realized that science has a purpose far beyond textbooks, it has the power to improve people’s wellbeing and quality of life. That realization shaped my ambition to pursue pharmaceutical sciences and to dedicate my career to developing solutions that truly make a difference. Today, I am proud to say that I work as a pharmaceutical scientist in one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the region and beyond, Alkaloid AD Skopje. What once felt like a distant dream in a classroom is now my daily responsibility.
Joining the Institute of Research and Development at Alkaloid AD Skopje was not just a career step, it was a defining moment in my scientific journey. It opened the door to a world where curiosity meets responsibility, and where research directly transforms into solutions that improve lives.Every day became an opportunity to learn, to question, and to grow, surrounded by professionals who not only shared their knowledge, but also inspired me to think critically, challenge assumptions, and constantly strive for improvement. Their knowledge shaped my expertise, but their dedication shaped my mindset.
With the strong support of the company, I pursued and successfully completed my doctoral studies in Process Analytical Technology, a field at the forefront of modern pharmaceutical manufacturing. Following modern global scientific trends, my research focused on implementing advanced analytical tools and integrating machine learning approaches to better understand and control pharmaceutical production processes, and therefore ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.
Alongside my professional and academic growth, I have authored and co-authored numerous publications in regional and international peer-reviewed journals. For me, publishing is not merely about professional recognition, it is about responsibility and contribution. Each publication reflects commitment, resilience, and continuous learning, but more importantly, it represents the opportunity to share knowledge beyond our laboratories. Science advances when knowledge is shared, and through every published paper, we contribute to a global dialogue that drives innovation forward.
Today, I lead a team of talented young researchers who represent the future of pharmaceutical science. My role is no longer only to research, but to inspire and to create an environment where innovation thrives, where questions are encouraged, and where bold ideas are transformed into tangible impact. From learning to leading, the journey has been both challenging and rewarding, and it continues every single day.“

Through the Support Fund for Talented High School Students “Talents Today – Leaders Tomorrow,” Macedonia2025 supports young people who demonstrate exceptional dedication, talent, and potential. The program provides not only financial support but also mentorship, professional guidance, and opportunities for personal development, helping students grow into future leaders and innovators.
One of these inspiring scholars is Iva Davidovska, a third-year student at “Gjorche Petrov” High School in Kriva Palanka, whose achievements span science, art, public speaking, and cultural engagement.
A Student with Curiosity Across Disciplines
Iva is a hardworking and determined student who consistently maintains excellent academic performance while actively participating in competitions, projects, and community events.
Her interests range widely across physics, biology, mathematics, and the English language, as well as art, culture, and public speaking.
Among her most notable achievements are:
4th Place at the National English Oratory Competition at the American University in Bulgaria (2025)
Special Award for Artistic Expression at the National Art Competition in Raška, Serbia
2nd Place at the Regional Physics Competition
2nd Place at the National Biology Competition
Strong results in several English language competitions
These accomplishments reflect her passion for learning and her ability to excel in multiple disciplines.
A Passion for Science and Discovery
Throughout the academic year, Iva actively participated in a number of scientific competitions and educational initiatives.
At the municipal competitions in physics and biology, she won first prizes in both subjects, qualifying for the regional competitions.
A particularly important milestone was her participation in the 47th “Young Physicists” School at the Institute of Physics, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje, where she presented an experiment titled “Li-Fi – Data Transmission Using Light.” Her presentation attracted strong interest from the evaluation committee and earned her second prize.
Iva also participated in the Women in STEM Inspiration Workshop – Europe House Kriva Palanka, where she had the opportunity to learn from engineers, mentors, and researchers from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the Global Engineer Girls initiative, and STEM Robotics Kočani. The workshop helped her gain valuable insights into STEM careers and strengthened her motivation to pursue engineering studies.
Additionally, she competed in the BEST IN ENGLISH 2025 International Competition, which involved more than 31,000 students from 33 countries, achieving an excellent result in the global ranking.
Art as Another Form of Expression
Beyond science, Iva has a strong artistic side. With the scholarship’s support, she invested in high-quality art materials, enabling her to expand her artistic practice and build a larger collection of paintings.
In December 2025, she participated in the First Exhibition of Non-Academic Local Artists in Kriva Palanka, where she proudly presented her artwork as the youngest participating artist.

A Voice for Ideas and Culture
Iva is equally engaged in cultural and public speaking activities.
During the “Oratory Evening” organized by her school, she delivered a speech on corruption and ethics, inspired by contemporary social issues, earning recognition and praise from the organizers.
Beyond academic and artistic activities, she is also dedicated to preserving cultural heritage. As a member of the Folklore Ensemble “Folkloristi,” she has participated in several cultural events, including:
International Folklore Festival “Autumn Fruits” – Podareš (2nd place with her ensemble)
International Folklore Festival “Maleševo Sings and Dances 2025” – Mikrevo, Bulgaria
Traditional Cultural Festival “Ratevski Bamburci”
These performances allowed her to proudly represent Macedonian traditions through music and dance.She also attended the European Heritage Days Event – Kriva Palanka Museum, where she explored the cultural history of her region through exhibitions and interactive activities.
Mentorship and Inspiration for the Future
Through the Macedonia2025 scholarship program, Iva is also part of the mentorship initiative, working with mentors who support her academic and professional development.
Because of her strong interest in aerospace engineering, one of her mentors connected her with two aerospace engineers, allowing her to learn about the profession firsthand and discuss potential career paths. This experience greatly motivated her to pursue ambitious goals in the field of engineering.
Looking Toward the Future
Iva dreams of becoming either an architect or an aerospace engineer, combining her analytical strengths with her creativity. She strongly believes that: “Education is a privilege, and hard work and determination are the foundation for building a brighter future.”
Through her dedication, curiosity, and passion for learning, Iva represents exactly what the “Talents Today – Leaders Tomorrow” program strives to support: young individuals who will shape the future of their communities and the country.

Кирил и Методиј“ во Скопје се одржа панел-дискусијата „Од одлив на кадар до циркулација на таленти: Како заедно да создадеме одржливи решенија“, во рамки на семинарот „Сознанија од четвртиот работен пакет на проектот Партнерства за вештини за одржливи и праведни модели на миграција (SKILLS4JUSTICE)“.
Во фокусот на дискусијата беа прашањата:
Како да го задржиме и развиеме човечкиот капитал во време на зголемена мобилност и глобална конкуренција за таленти?
Како од предизвикот на одливот на кадар да создадеме можност за одржлив развој?
Нена Манчев ја истакна потребата од премин од индивидуални успешни приказни кон системски и одржливи решенија. Таа нагласи дека одливот на мозоци не е доказ за недостаток на талент, туку за недоволно изградени механизми за апсорпција на знаење. Преку структурирани образовни и лидерски програми, дијаспората може да биде активен партнер во развојот на младите – без нужно физичко враќање.
Во рамки на панелот, проф. д-р Гоце Андреевски сподели лична перспектива за образованието и професионалниот развој во странство. Настапувајќи во лично својство, а како член на Советотавниот совет на Македонија2025, тој потенцираше дека врските со татковината не се губат со заминувањето – напротив, тие можат да се продлабочуваат преку активна соработка и професионално поврзување, менторство и академски ангажман.
Виктор Мизо, исто така настапувајќи во лично својство, а кој е воедно и претседавач на Одбото на директори на организацијава, зборуваше за своето 18-годишно искуство во САД и одлуката да се врати во земјата. Тој посочи дека враќањето е свесна одлука да се вложи стекнатото меѓународно искуство во развојот на домашната економија и деловната култура.
Панелот испрати јасна порака: циркулацијата на таленти не значи сите да се вратат, туку знаењето, искуството и мрежите постојано да се враќаат и вградуваат во развојот на земјата.
