Scholar Success Story: Eva Malinovska -When Talent Becomes Excellence

Through the Support Fund for Talented High School Students “Talents Today - Leaders Tomorrow,” Macedonia2025 supports young individuals whose dedication, hard work, and talent demonstrate their potential to become future leaders and ambassadors of Macedonia around the world. Based on her achievements and activities throughout the year, Eva’s story stands out as a remarkable example of artistic excellence and perseverance.

One of these inspiring scholars is Eva Malinovska, a second-year student at the “Ilija Nikolovski–Luj” Music High School in Skopje, where she studies cello under the mentorship of Professor Mare Videvska.

Music has been part of Eva’s life from an early age. She began playing the cello at the age of eight, when her exceptional musical ear and natural talent were first recognized by renowned professors and musicians. Today, thanks to years of dedication, discipline, and a deep love for music, Eva is considered one of the most promising young cellists in Macedonia.

From Young Talent to the Macedonian Philharmonic Stage

At just 14 years old, Eva was selected as the youngest performer to appear with the Macedonian Philharmonic, an achievement that represents a significant milestone for any young musician. Only a year later, she held her first solo concert organized by JM Macedonia, further confirming her readiness for major concert stages.

Throughout her musical education, Eva has won numerous first prizes at international competitions, often receiving the maximum score of 100 points from professional juries. In recognition of her achievements, she is also a two-time recipient of the prestigious Phoenix Award, presented by the Municipality of Centar to outstanding young talents.

A Year Filled with Concerts, Performances, and New Challenges

The 2025/2026 academic year was particularly dynamic and successful for Eva.

She performed both as a soloist and as part of various chamber and symphony ensembles, appearing at the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle, the Faculty of Music Arts, and other important concert venues across the country. A particularly notable achievement was her performance during her school’s Patron Day celebration, when she was selected through an audition to perform as a soloist with the school chamber orchestra at the Macedonian Philharmonic.

During the year, Eva was also invited as a special guest performer at a concert featuring acclaimed musicians Dino Imeri and Dragan Gjorgjievikj Suzuki, another recognition of her talent and artistic maturity.

In addition to her solo performances, she participated in several orchestral projects and concerts in collaboration with the Faculty of Music Arts, performing in the grand hall of the Macedonian Philharmonic as part of the Faculty’s Symphony Orchestra.

International Recognition and Professional Development

Eva continuously invests in her artistic growth through participation in seminars, masterclasses, and international festivals.

One of the most significant experiences of the year was her participation in Cello Fest in Belgrade, where she attended masterclasses led by renowned cello professors and was selected among only 11 participants out of 57 to perform at the festival’s closing concert.

She also took part in the CELLOVE Cello Festival, where she worked with distinguished professors from the region and received highly positive feedback for her technique and musicality.

Eva’s interests extend beyond the traditional classical repertoire. In April 2026, she participated in a Film Music Seminar at the FAMES Institute, where she worked on recording music for animated films created by composition students from the University of Amsterdam. During the project, she had the opportunity to collaborate with internationally renowned conductors and composers Alastair King and Tim Redmond, an experience that further inspired her future professional aspirations.

That same year, she also won First Prize at an International Harmony Competition, demonstrating that her abilities are equally strong in the theoretical aspects of music education.

Music as a Universal Language

Throughout her education, Eva has participated in music camps, orchestras, and educational programs in Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, and Bulgaria. These international experiences have allowed her to collaborate with young musicians from different countries, discover new cultures, and learn from leading educators and performers.

Such opportunities have helped her build confidence on stage, develop a professional approach to music, and cultivate a constant desire to push her own boundaries and continue improving.

What the Scholarship Meant to Eva

Reflecting on her experience in the “Talents Today - Leaders Tomorrow” program, Eva shares: “As a cellist, I would like to express my gratitude to the ‘Talents Today - Leaders Tomorrow’ scholarship program of Macedonia2025. I had the privilege of being part of this program, and through my collaboration with the team and my mentor, I learned a great deal about responsibility, communication, and personal development. The scholarship enabled me to participate in masterclasses and competitions that are essential for my musical growth and helped me continue developing as a young artist.”

The program provided not only financial support, but also valuable mentorship and opportunities that contributed significantly to Eva’s artistic and personal development.

Looking Toward the Future

For Eva, music is not simply a talent - it is a way of life. Her dedication, discipline, and continuous desire for improvement clearly demonstrate that she has a bright professional future ahead of her.

With every new performance, competition, and concert, she proves that success is not the result of talent alone, but also of perseverance, hard work, and a genuine love for the art form.

Eva is a true example of a young person whose commitment and excellence embody the values of the “Talents Today - Leaders Tomorrow” program - a program that recognizes and supports young people who are ready to reach their full potential.

Eva’s story demonstrates that when talent is combined with hard work, discipline, and support, the result is excellence that inspires.
