Celebrating Business Success and Leadership: LEADER Project Networking Event

posted May 11, 2018

On May 10, Macedonia2025 organized the LEADER Project Networking Event in the presence of wide array of guests, organizational members, supporters, corporate partners, in-kind sponsors, current LEADER project participants, LEADER project alumni.

All MK2025 leadership development programs have been consistently and continuously endorsed by the Canadian Embassy.  On that occasion, Her Excellency, Mrs. Kati Csaba - Ambassador to Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro gave an opening address, stating that “LEADER is an amazing program that supports entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs in developing the skills and competitiveness necessary for them to compete in a free-market environment.”

The essential benefit of the program is the encouragement to the people to take the destiny in their hands, which is a pre-condition to develop a sustainable economy in Macedonia. “– highlighted Mr. Wolfgang Maringer, LEADER Project Chair and General Director of Arcelor Mittal, Skopje – Macedonia.

Through the support of Macedonia2025, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have started implementing the LEADER project in 2016 and 2017 respectively. What is more, Macedonia2025 Executive Director – Biljana Markovic Stamenova informed that for the first time the LEADER Project takes a joint regional approach, enhancing its content, impact and visibility. “This year, the three winners from the three different sites will have the chance to pitch their business ideas together in front of regional and international jury.” - emphasized Markovic Stamenova.

This has been enabled thanks to the project "Strengthening of Cross-border Cooperation and Relations in the Western Balkans through People to People Contact of Young Entrepreneurs", funded by the Western Balkans Fund.  As part of the project activities, the nine winners will first present their business ideas in Belgrade (Serbia) on 22nd June, then on 9th August they will be going to Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and finally they will meet again in Skopje (Macedonia) on 7th November, as part of the Macedonia2025 Summit. This will provide them with an enhanced opportunity for regional exposure.

We’re looking forward to announcing the three winners from the ongoing LEADER project and so excited about the first Regional Business Pitching Competition taking place in Belgrade on 22nd June.
