About Macedonia 2025

Economic development lies at the core of Macedonia 2025. This initiative aims to achieve a number of goals: position Macedonia as a preferred destination for foreign direct investment; promote transparent government and corporate practices; create a flourishing climate for entrepreneurship; instill a new attitude towards competitiveness; and make Macedonia the gateway to regional markets.

Mike Zafirovski and Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski addressing the media about the Macedonia 2025 initiative. Skopje December 1st 2006.

The goals of this ambitious and noteworthy project will be attained through the successful implementation of the three pillars:

1. To help identify, develop and promote several key Macedonian industries

2. To help educate and inspire entrepreneurship and economic/business development in Macedonia

3. To advise, comment, aid and meet with governments on the development of Macedonian policies that ensure the consolidation of an open and transparent democracy

Through a series of short-, mid- and long-term strategies, this undertaking will guide Macedonia’s progress for the next twenty years by developing consistent and holistic country-specific programs that build on Macedonia’s strengths and resources. A commitment will be made to research, innovation, competitiveness, and to developing a business-friendly environment that attracts investment and encourages economic growth.

A thriving spirit of entrepeneurship will be nurtured and consolidated. Leadership and new management skills will be transferred to the engines of the new economy which will produce superior and sustainable performance.
